Thursday Thoughts: Blogging Thoughts

Hey guys! Kind of a different post for you today. I’ve known a lot of people that have asked me questions about blogging. I figured I’d share the advice I gave them with you all.

First and foremost, make sure you really want this. It may look easy, but it’s not. You need to be passionate about what you’re writing about. You also need to be organized and make sure you have time to spare. This isn’t something you just sit down and spend ten or fifteen minutes on.

I usually have three notebooks in rotation. That’s what I’ve discovered works for me. Sometimes I carry them with me, sometimes they sit at home. I do find it weirdly helps if the notebooks are cute, so I’m always on the look out for new ones, especially on sale.

Inside the notebooks all have different things.

One is a schedule of what I’ll post when. Typically, what is posted on the blog is something that happened in my real life weeks before. Sometimes less time, sometimes more. But having ideas ahead of time helps me not to scramble around last minute.

Another one contains lists of products I’ve used on actual looks or mani Mondays or even what’s in my trash.

The last one has looks I’m working on. Just usually lists of eye and lip products I want to try together. I also use this one to jot down when I get ideas and can’t work on them in the moment.

I’m also a huge fan of colored pens and markers. Each type of post gets its in color. So I can flips between notebooks and find the same notes for a single post easily. It also helps break up between long lists.

Basically, the most important thing (by far) is that you really enjoy what your subject is. If it feels like work, you won’t last.

And that’s all y’all! Let me know if you have any questions! See you soon!

Mani Monday

Happy Mani Monday!

The base of the middle and ring fingers is Essie Nail Lacquer in Angel Food.

The blue shapes on those fingers and the other fingers is Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Out if the Blue.

The silver shapes were done with Essie Nail Lacquer in Apres-Chic.

The glittery lines/shapes were done with LA Colors Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer in Silver Glitter.

It’s all topped off with a coat of Sinful Shine Top Coat.

And that’s all y’all! See you soon!

Skincare Sunday: DIY Wine and Egg Face Mask — February 24, 2019

Skincare Sunday: DIY Wine and Egg Face Mask

Hey guys! Today I’ll be making a wine and egg face mask.

You’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 3 Tbsp red wine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk

Mix together the ingredients and apply to clean, dry face.

Remove completely after about 15 minutes.

The red wine has antioxidants such as flavonoid, resveratrol and tannin, which help with anti-aging by restoring collagen and the elasticity of skin. It also has antiseptic properties, so can be good for acne prone skin.

The whites of the egg can help tighten pores temporarily.

The egg yolk contains fatty acids which are super moisturizing.

Overall, this mask was good, but a little messy and runny for my taste. I think I’ll keep my wine in a glass from now on!

And that’s all, y’all! See you soon!

Face of the Day Friday — February 22, 2019

Face of the Day Friday

Hey guys! Playing with some color today, and this is what I came up with!

I started (as usual) by waking up my under eye area with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. I also ran some Smack Beauty Bat Those Lashes Volumizing Lash Serum along my upper lash line.

To prep my face for makeup, I patted on some NYX Professional Makeup Shine Killer. I also hydrated my lips with Pure Paw Paw Ointment in Grape.

To correct some redness, I used some LA Girl Cosmetics Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Green Corrector, blending it in with a Mini Beauty Blender. To even out my complexion, I applied The Ordinary Colours Coverage Foundation in 1.2YG, buffing it in with a Japonesque Multitasker Brush.

To get some definition, I did a little cream contouring with some LA Girl Cosmetics Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Toast, blending it with a Morphe R9 Brush.

I also did a little cream highlighting and concealing with some Palladio Under Eyes Disguise Full Coverage Concealer in Vanilla Latte. I blended the crap out of that with a dampened Beauty Blender.

For some cheek color, I used the heat of my fingers to blend a little Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Creme Colour Concentrate in Grandma into my cheeks.

I also added some NYX Professional Makeup Strobe of Genius Holographic Stick in Mermaid Armor to my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose.

To set all that cream, I grabbed a Morphe E41 Brush and swept some Jouer Cosmetics Mineral Powder in Perle Naturel all over.

Over the areas I contoured earlier, I used both a Morphe E56 Brush and a Morphe R41 Brush with some Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation in Deep Mocha to deepen it just a it.

For some more cheek color, I used a Sigma F40 Brush to add some Jouer Cosmetics Powder Blush in Peach Bouquet.

I really wanted a fun highlight today, so I tripled it up. On top of the cream one I did earlier, I used a Morphe M501 Brush to sweep on some NYX Professional Makeup Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder in Lavender Steel. I also used my fingers t pay on some Lavender Stardust Aloe Vera Gel in Saturn. The combo definitely added some extraness to the look.

To fill in and shape my brows today, I used a Morphe M413 Brush and some NYX Professional Makeup Eyebrow Cake Powder in Dark Brown. I set them with a little Model in a Bottle Long Lasting Eyebrow Sealer. I also cleaned up the edges with a Younique Cream Shadow Brush and some Dermablend Professional Cover Creme in Natural Beige.

Now here’s where I got to play with my Estée Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow Duo in Amethysts. I used a Morphe R39 add the lighter color into my crease. I then used the Morphe E32 Brush to pat the darker color onto my eyelids.

After dampening a Morphe M508 Brush with some Mehron Mixing Liquid, I used it to add some NYX Professional Makeup Pigment in Vermouth to my lower lash line.

I then added a wing with some Milano Uktrafine Liquid Eye Liner in Prismatic Purple, and some LA Girl Cosmetics Glide Gel Liner in Silver Streak to my waterline.

After adding a couple coats of Velvet 59 My Fair Lashes Mascara, I also added some Ardell Wispies, attaching them with some Duo Eyelash Adhesive.

I swept on some NYX Professional Makeup Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Amethyst, and completed the look with some NYX Professional Makeup Duo Chromatic Shimmer Lip Gloss in Booming in the center of my lips.

And that’s all, y’all! See you soon!

Glambot Again Again Reaction — February 21, 2019

Glambot Again Again Reaction

Hey guys! I received my offer back on my last Glambot sale, so I’m here to share the results with you!

I sent 16 items, and some sample and mini sized items. Of those items, 12 were accepted. Two were said to be less than fifty percent of the product left, and two were said to be expired.

After going over the acceptable items, they offered me $25 in cash or $33 in Glambucks, which I could use in their online store.

Overall, this one went okay. Definitely way better than last time, where my package was damaged and rejected.

And that’s all, y’all! See you soon!

Mani Monday

Happy Mani Monday!

The base of the middle and ring fingers is Ciate Nail Polish in Loop the Loop.

The flowers started as imperfect dots of Essie Nail Lacquer in Fiesta.

Then I painted the remaining nails Essie Nail Lacquer in Need a Vacation. Also when the dots of the flowers was a little tacky, I swirled some of this color in.

The darker part of the leaves is OPI Nail Lacquer in Suzi- The First Lady of Nails.

The lighter part of the leaves is Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquer in Wavepool.

It’s all topped off with a coat of Essie Gel Setter Top Coat.

For those of you wondering, the little flower faux tattoo is from Inked by Dani.

And that’s all, y’all! See you soon!

Skincare Sunday: Avocado, Rice Flour and Apple Juice — February 17, 2019

Skincare Sunday: Avocado, Rice Flour and Apple Juice

Hey guys! Another DIY face mask for you today! Gather your materials:

  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 1 Tbsp Rice Flour
  • 1 Tbsp Apple Juice
  • Container to mix in
  • Something to mix with
  • Warm, wet rag to remove

Mix together your ingredients.

Apply to a clean, dry face.

The avocado is very moisturizing. In addition to fatty acids, it also contains vitamin E that can both help soften and hydrate your face.

The rice flour helps gently exfoliate away dead skin, leaving it nice and smooth.

The apple juice contains vitamin c, leaving skin healthy and bright looking!

After about 20 minutes, remove with your warm, wet rag.

Overall, this was one of my favorite DIY masks so far. It left my skin feeling lush and hydrated, and not at all greasy. Definitely worth a try!

And that’s all y’all! See you soon!

Face of the Day Friday

Hey guys! So I’ve had this little Clinique palette my mom gave me sitting around for a while, and today I picked it up and decided to play around with it.

As usual, I started by waking up my under eye area with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. I also ran some Smack Beauty Bat Those Lashes Volumizing Lash Serum along my upper lash line.

To prep my face for makeup, I patted on some NYX Professional Makeup #NoFilter Blurring Primer. I also hydrated my lips with some Lip Smart Powerful Hydration for Dry Lips.

To even out my complexion, I grabbed a Sigma 3DHD Kabuki Brush and buffed on some L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation in Natural Buff.

To correct some under eye circles, I applied some LA Girl Cosmetics Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Light Yellow Corrector. I patted that in with a Real Techniques Essential Foundation Brush.

For some definition, I decided to dream contour with LA Girl Cosmetics Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Warm Sand, blending the crap out of that with a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

To conceal and cream highlight some, I used some Palladio Under Eyes Disguise Full Coverage Concealer in Vanilla Latte, once again blending with a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

For a little cheek color, I added some Club Clio Peripera Ah! Much Real My Cushion Blusher in Pleased Pink. I also added a little glow to my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose with The Beauty Crop Lighting Crew Highlighting Cream.

To set everything, I used a Morphe E52 Brush to sweep some Jouer Cosmetics Mineral Powder in Perle d’Ivoire all over.

On the contoured areas, I used both a Japonesque Kumadori Blending Brush and a Morphe Y22 Brush to add some Palladio Matte Bronzer in Teeny Bikini.

For some more cheek color, I grabbed a Real Techniques Multi Task Brush and added some NYX Professional Makeup Powder Blush in Pinched.

And because I can’t get enough glow, I used a Morphe M501 Brush to sweep some LA Girl Cosmetics Strobe Lite Strobing Powder in 110 Watt along my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose.

To fill

In and shape my brows today, I used By Nanda Long Lasting Coloring Eyebrow in 05. I cleaned up the edges with a Smashbox Retractable Lip Brush and some Dermacol Make-Up Cover Foundation in 209.

And now for the eyes!

I used a Morphe M505 Brush to create a transition shade with Clinique Colour Surge Soft Shimmer Eyeshadow in 53.

For my crease, I used a Real Techniques Domed Shadow Brush and Clinique Colour Surge Soft Shimmer Eyeshadow in AF.

Next I used a Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush to add Clinique Colour Surge Soft Shimmer Eyeshadow in 52 to my inner and outer eyelids.

For the center of my eyelids, I used a Morphe E32 Brush and Clinique Colour Surge Super Shimmer Eyeshadow in 28.

For liner today, I used a Morphe E38 Brush to create a wing with e.l.f. Cosmetics Smudge Pot in Poppin’ Party. I also used a Maybelline Master Drama By Eye Studio Eyeliner in Purple Punch in my water line.

To smoke that out a bit, I grabbed a Sigma E55 Brush and smudged some Ulta Eyeshadow in Amethyst along my lower lash line.

For a bit of a highlight around my tear duct, I used a Real Techniques Brow Brush to add some Glamour Doll Eyes Pigment in Violet Winds.

After throwing on some Palladio Double Agent Faux Lash Effect Mascara, inadded some Ardell Wispies, using some Duo Brush On Adhesive with Vitamins to attach them.

I applied some Too Faced Lipstick in Drunk Dial, and completed the look with some NYX Professional Makeup Butter Gloss in Raspberry Tart.

And that’s all y’all! See you soon!

Thursday Thoughts: Beauty Trash — February 14, 2019

Thursday Thoughts: Beauty Trash

Hey guys! Today we’ll be digging through all the products I’ve finished up lately.

Ricky’s NYC Ricky Care Disposable Mascara Wands: just typical ones. Not terrible. Not anything special either.

Acure Mega Moisture Argan Oil and Pumpkin Shampoo: again, okay. Wouldn’t be in a huge hurry to grab more, but not really anything wrong with it.

Estée Lauder Pure Colors Eyeshadow: nice pigmentation. But I have sooooo much stuff already, and new and exciting things are coming out every time I turn around.

Farsali Rose Gold Elixir 24k Gold Infused Beauty Oil: I know people are obsessed with this. But for the price, I’ll keep looking.

The Mane Choice Soft as Can Be 3-in-1 Revitalize and Refresh Conditioner: I used this as both a co-wash and a leave in. I really liked how soft my hair was.

Beauty Blender: yep. So sad. I tore it while cleaning it. It’s okay, though, I always have quite a few in rotation!

Yichen Pink Polymer Powder: I like this stuff. I’ll probably try out some other brands, just to test them out, but this was good.

Sinful Colors Sinful Shine Top Coat: I like this a lot. It gives great shine.

Sally Beauty Supply Sally Girl Sparkle Effects Loose Glitter in Blue Lagoon: so pretty, but I’ve found other brands of glitter I prefer.

Morphe E38 Brush: one of my favorites to do my eyeliner or brows with. The brushes started coming loose. I’m just glad I had some more of the exact brush.

Malibu Glitz Intense Colour Waterproof Eyeliner in Hot Pink: so sad this dried up on me. I feel like it’s a had color to find for an eyeliner.

LA Colors Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer in Silver Glitter: this also dried up. To be honest though, I don’t feel like I use it much. There a much prettier silver glitter nail polishes out there.

Moroccan Oil Color Continue Shampoo: I really like this. Not enough in the bottle to know if it really did prolong my color, but as usual I’m impressed with Moroccan Oil products.

Frownies Facial Patches for Wrinkles on the Forehead and Between the Eyes: I like these, minus a few things. Sometimes I’d wake up and they wouldn’t even be on my face anymore, they’d be laying in bed next to me. Also, the price. I heard you can use medical tape and get the same effect, but I haven’t tried it. Plus, let’s be honest… they aren’t cute looking if someone is in bed with you!

Klorane Blond-Highlights Shampoo with Chamomile: ehhhhh. I honestly used this to wash my sponges a few times. So I can’t give a true review.

NYX Professional Makeup Liquid Crystal Liner in Crystal Silk: I’m a huge fan of these. Nice for when you need a little sparkle!

LA Colors Liquid Eyeliner in Brown: a decent eyeliner. Nothing special, nothing wrong with it.

LA Girl Liquid Eyeliner in Black: sane deal here, just different color.

Moroccan Oil Color Continue Conditioner: again, I’m usually a big fan of Moroccan Oil products, and this one didn’t disappoint.

Marc Jacobs Decadence: smells great. I just hate these little samples.

LA Splash Cosmetics Lip Couture Waterproof Liquid Lipstick in Criminal: such a pretty color, but dried out on me.

Yichen White Polymer Powder: I was sooooo mad. I dropped this and spilled it everywhere.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliator: I really like this. I over exfoliate sometimes, so this nice and gentle one was great for me.

And that’s all y’all! What did you guys use up that I need in my life? See you soon!

Thursday Thoughts: Beauty Trash —

Thursday Thoughts: Beauty Trash

Hey guys! Here we go again… time to go through everything I’ve used up since the last time. Let’s jump in!

Japonesque Solid Brush Cleanser Gentle Goat-Milk Cleansing Balm: I really like this. Better for eyeshadow brushes than cream brushes. For those I still felt I needed a deeper clean. Did leave my brushes feeling conditioned.

Bath & Body Works Unicorn Foam Berry Bliss Anti-Bacterial Foaming Mousse Hans Sanitizer: I got this from a friend as a gift. (Because it’s unicorn, of course!) And it was nice. My one disappointment was that the actual foam was just white. I really wanted it to be iridescent or something.

Swan Strengthening Nail Polish Remover: while I typically prefer non acetone removers, this one works okay.

Ricky’s NYC Ricky Care No-Snag Black and Clear Mini Elastics: these are perfect for the ends of braids. Stretch enough to work, and don’t break easily.

Ricky’s NYC Ricky Care No Slip Black Rubber Hair Ties: good and bad. They really don’t slip. But they do tend to grab a little too much to the hair, sometimes getting tangled and caught.

Ricky’s NYC Bobbies: I really like these bobby pins. They don’t slip out, and don’t get bent out of shape easily.

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray: this is nice and light. Might be just a little too light for my thick hair. Smells nice.

Palladio Felt-Tip Eyeliner Pen in Jet Black: this was amazing. Blacker than hell. A super fine point.

Japonesque Rosewater Scent Makeup Brush Cleanser: perfect for quick cleaning. Maybe not for foundation brushes.

Burt’s Bees Baby Shampoo and Wash: I used this to clean brushes also. (Can you tell I’ve been on a brush cleaning frenzy lately?) I figured, gentle enough for baby, gentle enough for makeup brushes.

Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox Beauty Balm: great for days when I don’t need full coverage. Leaves a very nice, natural finish, with light to medium coverage.

Clio Professional Kill Black Waterproof Brush Liner: again, a really great liner. Very black, and doesn’t run.

Joico K-Pak Split End Mender: great for hiding those dreaded split ends between making it to the salon.

Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquer in Lean: soooo sad. I loved this color, but it got dry and clumpy on me. I know I could have picked up some nail polish thinner, but I usually find it’s never the same after.

NYX Professional Makeup Lip Liner in Mauve: do you think I liked this? I basically wore it down to a nub. It’s a great everyday go to color.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner: you know this is a holy grail product for a lot of people. And that title is well deserved. Really does stay all day!

And that’s it for now! See you all soon!
