Thursday Thoughts: My son doing my makeup versus me doing my makeup

Hey guys! I wanted to try and interesting thing for you today. I had my nine year old son Aidan do my makeup. Then, using the same exact product, I did my makeup. Above on the left is his take, and on the right is mine.

Here’s a closer look:

Aidan’s look

My look

We started by waking up my under eye area with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. We also ran some Smack Beauty Bat Those Lashes Volumizing Lash Serum along my upper lash line (this was scary when he did it, but he did manage to not poke me in the eye).

Next we applied some Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion for Lips to hydrate them, and prepped my face for makeup by spraying on some Skindinavia Makeup Primer Spray.

To even out my complexion, we applied some Jouer Cosmetics Luminizing Moisture Tint in Pearl, blending it in with a dampened Beauty Blender.

To correct my dark circles, we applied some LA Girl Cosmetics Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Yellow Corrector, blending that in with another dampened Beauty Blender.

To add some definition, we used a NYX Professional Makeup Wonder Stick Highlight and Contour Stick in Medium/Tan, this time using a dampened Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to blend it.

For some cheek color, we took another dampened Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to dab on some Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Creme Colour Concentrate in Grandma. For a little glow, we used our finger to apply some Inika Light Reflect Highlighting Creme in my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose.

To set everything, we used a Morphe E52 Brush to dust some RCMA No-Color Powder all over.

We also went over the contoured areas with some Palladio Matte Bronzer in Teeny Bikini, using both a Morphe E56 Brush and a Morphe Y22 Brush.

To add more cheek color, we used a Real Techniques Multi Task Brush to add some Cargo Cosmetics Water Resistant Blush in Los Cabos. We also used a Morphe M501 Brush to add more glow to my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose with some Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Illuminati.

To fill in and shape my brows today, we used an Anastasia Duo Brush 7 and some NYX Professional Makeup Eyebrow Cake Powder in Dark Brown.

Aidan’s look

My look

For the eyes today, we chose my Almay Intense I-Color Satin-I Kit Powder Shadow in Trio for Hazels.

We started my using a Morphe E32 Brush to apply the Cream color to my brow bone.

Next, we used a Real Techniques Domed Shadow Brush to add the brown color into my crease.

Finally, we used a Morphe E14 Brush to add the light pink color to my eyelids.

For liner today, we used a Palladio Felt-Tip Eyeliner Pen. This was so scary for me when Aidan was applying. I think he was a bit nervous also, because he used too light of a touch, and it hardly shows.

We tossed a couple coats of Grande Mascara Lash Boosting Formula on. Here Aidan made kind of a mess.

Next, we lined and filled in my lips with NYX Professional Makeup Liner in Mauve.

We finished the look with some NYX Professional Makeup Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake.

Overall, he didn’t do bad. Blending had room for improvement, and a steady hand would help. I think this takes me back to my days of first experimenting with makeup.

I hope you all had as much fun as we did! See you soon!

Skincare Sunday: Cinnamon, Aloe and Almond Oil — January 27, 2019

Skincare Sunday: Cinnamon, Aloe and Almond Oil

Hey guys! I have another DIY face mask for you today! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 TBSP Cinnamon
  • 3 TBSP Aloe
  • 1/2 TBSP Almond Oil
  • Container to mix in
  • Something to mix with
  • Warm, wet rag to remove

Mix together your ingredients.

Apply to clean, dry face.

Wait 15 minutes before removing.

The cinnamon promotes blood flow and creates a nice “plumping” effect to the skin. It’s also anti-microbial, so can help with acne.

The aloe is moisturizing. It also contains hormones and antioxidants that can help with acne and signs of aging.

The almond oil also contains antioxidants, so it can help fight damage form free radicals and aging. It also has fatty acids, which can help retain moisture in your skin.

This one left me a little red.

It was a nice mask, but maybe not for someone with sensitive skin.

See you all soon!

Face of the Day Friday — January 25, 2019

Face of the Day Friday

Hey guys! I was playing with my Pinky Rose Cosmetics Rustic Rose Palette today and decided to share what I came up with for you.

I started (as usual) by waking up my under eye area with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. I also ran some Smack Beauty Bat Those Lashes Volumizing Lash Serum along my upper lash line.

To prep my face for makeup, I patted on some NYX Professional Makeup #NoFilter Blurring Primer. I also hydrated my lips with some Blossom Scented Lip Gloss in Mint.

To even out my complexion, I used a dampened Beauty Blender to pat on The Ordinary Colours Coverage Foundation in 1.2YG. To correct my dark circles, I applied some LA Girl Cosmetics Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Light Yellow Corrector, buffing it in with a Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush.

To add a bit of definition, I used a NYX Professional Makeup Wonder Stick Highlight and Contour Stick in Universal, blending it out with a dampened Beauty Blender.

To add a tiny bit of cheek flush, I used a Club Clio Peripera Ah! Much Real My Cushion Blusher in Pleased Pink. I also added some glow with some Temptu Silicone Based Highlighter in Champagne Shimmer.

To go over the areas I contoured earlier, I used both an e.l.f. Cosmetics Contouring Brush and a Real Techniques Brow Brush and some Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation in Deep Mocha.

On the highlighted areas, I used a Vera Mona Cake and Bake Makeup Sponge to pack on some Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Buff. After a few minutes, I swept off the excess with a Morphe G5 Brush.

For more cheek color, I used a Real Techniques Multi Task Brush to sweep on some Palladio Matte Blush in Velvetine.

And because you know I can never get enough glow, I used a Morphe M31 Brush to add some Dose of Colors Baked Highlighter in Peach Glow to my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose.

To fill in and shape my brows today, I used a Morphe E38 Brush and some LA Girl Cosmetics Gel Liner in Dark Brown. (I know, I know. A little different, but I felt like experimenting.) I cleaned up the edges with a Morphe M508 Brush and some Jouer Cosmetics Perfector in Naturel.

Now for the fun part! Here’s where I used my Pinky Rose Cosmetics Rustic Rose Palette.

I started by created a transition shade with the color in the second column, first row with a Frankie Rose Cosmetics 725 Brush.

Next, I added some color in the crease with a Morphe E22 Brush, and the color in the sixth column, second row.

Onto my eyelids and on my lower lash line, I used a Sigma E55 Brush to add the color from the fifth column, third row.

Next, I added some winged liner, with a Morphe E38 Brush and some Frankie Rose Cosmetics Limitless Waterproof Gel Liner in Naughty.

I also ran some Frankie Rose Infinity Eye Pencil in Brown into my waterline.

I tossed on a couple coats of Lancôme Mon Sieur Big Mascara, and added the second pair of lashes from the Violet Voss Eye Believe in Unicorns Set, using some Duo Eyelash Adhesive.

To finish of the look, I lined and filled in my lips with NYX Professional Makeup Suede Matte Lip Liner in Maison, and swept on a coat of NYX Professional Makeup Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Push Up.

And that’s all for today! See you all soon!

Thursday Thoughts: Beauty Trash — January 24, 2019

Thursday Thoughts: Beauty Trash

Hey guys! Time to dig through my beauty trash again!

Assured 100% Pure Cotton Cotton Balls: I mean… cotton balls are cotton balls, right?

Morphe M439 Brush: annoyed over this breaking, because the brush was wonderful.

Inglot AMC Brow Liner Gel in 17: lives this product! Works wonders on my lack of brows.

Aphogee Pro Vitamin Leave-In Conditioner: great for damages hair. Helps me out when I bleach and color and use heat a little too much.

Sally Beauty Sally Girl Baked Eyeshadow in Your Majesty: as hard as yellow eyeshadow can be too find, this one was just okay. The color is nice, pigmentation is fine, but I wish it was more matte.

Meow Meow Tweet: I’ve said this before, but I really like this cleanser.

Philip B Rejuvenating Oil: works wonders for a healthy scalp.

Tresemme Tres Two Spray: not a huge hairspray fan, but this one does the trick when I do need some.

Philip B Nordic Wood Hair + Body Shampoo: this smells like Christmas. It’s great!

Smack Beauty Sleeping Beauty Firming Night Cream: not sure I saw any firming while using this, but the formula was nice in that it wasn’t too thick it too thin. Sank into my skin nicely.

Orofluido Shine Spray: leaves a nice sheen, but smells really strongly of alcohol.

Its a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product: by far my favorite leave-in.

Moroccan Oil Protect and Prevent Spray: nice. Nothing special, but nice.

Skyn Iceland Nordic Skin Peel: this makes my skin feel brand new.

Sebastian Twisted Elastic Cleanser for Curls: this contains sulfates, which I don’t love. The first use my waves were bouncier and more defined, but after that, any other use made my hair feel weighed down.

Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer: no. Saw absolutely no difference.

Kiko Cosmetics Infinity High Pigmented Eyeshadow in 212: beautiful color, great formula and really pigmented.

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask: leaves my skin feeling baby smooth.

Kiss Professional Acrylic Liquid: really works well.

LA Colors Eyeshadow in Terracotta: I really love this as a crease color.

Kiss Professional Clear Acrylic Powder: works great.

Stacked Skincare Dermaplaning Refill Trio: I am obsessed with dermaplaning, and these are my favorites.

CVS After Sun Aloe Vera Moisturizing Gel: I use this both in DIY face masks and in my hair. Does the job.

Thayers Witch Hazel Aloe Vera Formula Lavender Alcohol-Free Toner: my favorite facial toner.

And that’s all, y’all! See you soon!

Skincare Sunday: Papaya and Cinnamon — January 20, 2019

Skincare Sunday: Papaya and Cinnamon

Hey guys! Today’s DIY face mask is made of cinnamon and papaya. Gather your materials:

  • 3 Tbsp mashed or puréed papaya (after doing this, I would suggest puréed)
  • 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
  • Small container to mix in
  • Something to mix with
  • Warm, wet rag to remove

Mix the ingredients. I just mashed my papaya, but I think it would have been more successful if I’d puréed it.

Apply to a clean, dry face.

Here you can see the mashing didn’t work too well.

Remove after 10 minutes.

The papaya can help with dark spot. It also contains the enzyme papain and alpha hydroxy acids which helps exfoliate away dead skin cells, leaving your skin brighter.

The cinnamon promotes blood flow, creating a plumped look to the skin. It’s also a natural antioxidant, so can help fight damage from free radicals.

As usual, the cinnamon can be a little bit much for sensitive skin, so you may want to do a patch test first.

See you all soon!

Face of the Day Friday — January 18, 2019

Face of the Day Friday

Hey guys! Playing with some color today. I’ve been really wanting to pair green and purple, even though I immediately think of The Little Mermaid with those colors!

I started (as usual) by waking up my under eye area with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. I also ran some Smack Beauty Bat Those Lashes Volumizing Lash Serum along my lash line.

I prepped my face for makeup by patting on The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer. I also hydrated my lips with some Korres Pomegranate Lip Butter.

To even out my complexion, I used a Japonesque Multitasker Brush to buff on some NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Foundation in Natural. I also added some definition into my face with some LA Girl Cosmetics Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Warm Sand, blending that until my arm hurt with a dampened Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

To conceal under my eyes and highlight the high points of my face, I put on some Palladio Under Eyes Disguise Full Coverage Concealer in Vanilla Latte, blending it out with a Morphe G37 Brush.

I also added a little cheek color with a Morphe M439 Brush and some Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint in Very Charming. I also added a little glow with my fingers and The Beauty Crop Lighting Crew Highlighting Cream.

To set everything, I used an e.l.f. Cosmetics Professional Powder Brush to sweep some Jouer Cosmetics Mineral Powder in Perle Naturel all over.

Next I grabbed my Frankie Rose Cosmetics Pro Contour Palette. Over the areas I had cream contoured earlier, I used a Sigma E30 Brush and a Japonesque Kumadori Blending Brush with mixture of the darker colors. Using the lighter colors, I grabbed a Morphe M500 Brush and went over the highlighted areas.

For even more cheek flush, I used a Sigma F40 to sweep some Jouer Cosmetics Powder Blush in Peony along my cheeks.

And because you know I can’t get enough glow, I used a Morphe M501 Brush to add some Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Supernova along my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose.

To fill in and shape my brows today, I used an LA Girl Cosmetics 207 Brush and some Inglot AMC Brow Liner Gel in 17. I cleaned up the edges with a Smashbox Retractable Lip Brush and some NYX Professional Makeup Eyeshadow Base in Nude.

Now for the fun part! Today I used my Morphe 35P Palette.

I started by creating a transition shade with a Morphe M505 Brush and the color in the second column top row.

To add some color into my crease, I used a Morphe E17 Brush and the color in the sixth column, third row.

Onto the inner and out corners of my eyelids, I used a Morphe E14 Brush to pack on the color in the seventh column, fourth row.

Onto the center of my eyelids, I used a Morphe E32 Brush to add the color from the seventh column, third row.

Now time for GLITTER!!! I took a Morphe M508 Brush and dampened it with some Mehron Mixing Liquid. Using that, I added some Ben Nye Sparkles in Emerald Green to my lower lash line.

For my wing today, I used a Glamazon Beauty Flawless Gel Liner Pen. I also felt like I needed to brighten my eyes a bit, so I ran some NYX Professional Makeup Wonder Pencil in Light along my waterline.

Next, I added a couple coats of Velvet 59 My Fair Lashes Mascara, and added the top pair of lashes from the Violet Voss Eye Believe in Unicorns set, using some Duo Brush On Adhesive with Vitamins.

To complete the look, I lined and filled in my lips with a NYX Professional Makeup Suede Matte Lip Liner in Subversive Socialite, And added some Dose of Colors Lipgloss in Toxic.

And that’s all! See you soon!

Thursday Thoughts: Beauty Trash — January 17, 2019

Thursday Thoughts: Beauty Trash

Hey guys! Today we will be digging through my Beauty Trash! I’ll be sharing some thoughts on wha I’ve used up!

Moroccan Oil Dry Scalp Treatment: this is ah-mazing! It really helps with dry, flaky scalp.

Shadow Shields: this really help when working with loose pigments and glitters.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet: lightweight. I have oily skin, so this was nice. Not really enough for the winter, however.

Stacked Skincare Hydrating Gel Cleanser: I love this cleanser. Leave my skin clean, but no overly dry.

Smack Beauty Buh Bye Anti-Wrinkle Retinol Serum: this was nice. Didn’t leave my skin irritated and dry the way some anti aging serums do. My one complaint is it’s a little thick, so when it’s running low, the pump doesn’t really work well.

Maybelline New York Tattoo Studio Brow Tint Pen in Deep Brown: one of the biggest disappointments I’ve purchased lately. It does not work for me.

Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream: this is really refreshing and hydrating.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%: this really helps clear out the crap in your skin.

One ‘n Only Color Oasis Smoothing Shampoo: ehhhhh. Nothing to write home about.

Moroccan Oil amending Infusion: I wanted to love this. But I really didn’t see any difference.

Jouer Cosmetics Perfector in Ivory: love this formula for cream highlighting.

Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream: this really helps you get away with a wash in go look if you have thick, wavy hair like me.

Verb Leave-In Mist: probably wonderful, but too lightweight for my thick hair.

NYX Hot Singles Eyeshadow in Sex Kitten; the best transition color for me.

Smack Beauty I Was Framed Enhancing Brow Serum: literally saw zero difference while using this.

NYX Professional Makeup Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder in Lavender Steel: such a beautiful color. Get tons of compliments when I wear this.

Bed Head Colour Goddess Leave-In Conditioner: smells like cookies. Wish it was a little more hydrating though.

Coloured Raine Liquid Lipstick in Raine Fever: this color is pretty, but the formula was very drying and got super thick too quickly.

Meow Meow Tweet Face Cleanser: this is great. Cleanses well, but doesn’t dry my face out.

Philip B Light-Weight Deep Conditioning Creme Rinse: leaves my hair very silky.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Tone Adjusting Face Primer in Neutralizing Green: really helps for those days when you’re a little red.

Smith’s Mocha Rose Lip Balm with Vanilla: I really was sad to run out. Love his stuff.

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Clarifying Facial Wash and Scrub: I don’t really know why, but I didn’t like this. Just can’t put my finger on why.

Pure Paw Paw Ointment in Grape: this is so silky and hydrating.

The Lip Scrub by Sara Happ in Peppermint: Best. Lip. Scrub. Ever.

Kleancolor American Eyecon Wet/Dry Baked Eyeshadow in Matte Fuschia: soooo pigmented.

Ravines Naturaltech Replumping Hair Filler Superactive: not that I need it, but I also saw no difference.

And that’s all, y’all! See you soon!
