Skincare Sunday: Aloe and Tumeric — October 28, 2018

Skincare Sunday: Aloe and Tumeric

Hey guys! This week I’m trying an aloe and tumeric DIY face mask for you.

Gather your supplies:

  • 2 tablespoons Aloe
  • 1 teaspoon Tumeric
  • Small container
  • Something to mix with
  • Warm, damp rag to remove

Mix together the aloe and tumeric. It mixes very easily into a nice creamy texture.

Apply all over your face.

The tumeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This can be good for oily, acne prone skin.

The aloe can be used to moisturize. It also contains anti-acne hormones, Auxin and Gibberellins. These help with scarring and inflammation. It also contains a multitude of antioxidants, so had some animation-aging properties as well.

After ten minutes, remove with the warm rag.

So. Here’s where a freaked out a but. My skin was definitely yellow. But after using my usual Stacked Skincare Hydrating Gel Cleanser, that went away.

Overall, I might be worried about using this mask again if I had anywhere to be that day.

See you soon!

Face of the Day Friday — October 26, 2018

Face of the Day Friday

Hey guys! Just wanted to do a little bit more of a classic look today. And, yes, I’m back to dark hair for a bit. Aidan calls it “serious mom” hair!

I started as usual by waking up my under eye area with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. I also did the normal sweeping some Smack Beauty Bat Those Lashes Volumizing Lash Serum along my upper lash line.

To combat the evil shininess, I patted some NYX Professional Makeup Shine Killer on to my skin. I also applied some Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper.

To even out my skin tone today, I used a dampened Beauty Blender to pat on some Mally Ultimate Performance Professional Foundation in Light. I also cream highlighted and contoured using a NYX Professional Makeup Sculpt and Highlight Face Duo in Taupe/Ivory, blending in the dark side with a Ricky’s NYC Ricky Care Silicone Free Makeup Sponge, and the light side with a dampened Beauty Blender Mini. For my nose contour, though, I used a NYX Professional Makeup Micro-Contour Duo Pencil in Light. For that I just used my finger to blend.

For some cheek color, I used a Morphe M439 Brush to stipple some Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint I’m Very Charming onto my cheeks. To get some glow, I used my fingers to apply some Manna Kadar Sheet Glo Shimmer Lotion onto my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose.

To set everything, I used a Real Techniques Multi Task Brush to sweep some RCMA No-Color Powder all over.

On the contoured areas, I used a Morphe R41 Brush and a Japonesque Kumadori Blending Brush to add some Palladio Matte Bronzer in Teeny Bikini. On my cheeks, I added some NYX Professional Makeup Powder Blush in Pinched, using a Sigma F15 Brush.

To brighten the glow even more, I used a Morphe M501 Brush to sweep some Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Yasss! Along my cheekbones and down my nose.

To fill in and shape my brows today, I used a LA Girl 207 Brush and some Inglot AMC Brow Liner Gel in 16 and 20. I cleaned up the edges with a Bare Minerals Max Coverage Concealer Brush and some Dermacol Makeup-Cover Foundation in 209.

For my eyes today, I used my NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Multi Finish Shadow Palette in Sugar High.

I used a Sigma E40 Brush to add the color in the second column and second row into my crease.

I used a Morphe E14 Brush to pack the color from the second column, third row onto my eyelids.

Along my lower lash line, I used a Sigma E75 Brush to sweep some of the fourth column, first row color.

After dampening a Sigma E30 Brush with some Mehron Mixing Liquid, I used it to add some LA Splash Cosmetics Crystallized Glitter in Tequilini to the tear duct area and along the inner part of my lower lash line.

I lined and filled in my lips with a NYX Professional Makeup Suede Matte Lip Liner in Kitten Heels. I also added some Frankie Rose Cosmetics Lipstick in Raven.

I created a wing with a NYX Professional Makeup That’s the Point Put a Wing on it Artistry Eyeliner.

I added a couple coats of Lancôme Mon Sieur Big Mascara. I also added some Kara Eyelashes in 523, using some Duo Brush in Adhesive with Vitamins.

And that’s all for today! See you soon!

Skincare Sunday: Coffee and Honey — October 21, 2018

Skincare Sunday: Coffee and Honey

Hey guys! Another DIY face this week, this time made with coffee and honey.

Gather your what you need:

  • A Tablespoon
  • A small container
  • Something to mix with
  • Coffee
  • Raw honey
  • A warm wet rag

Mix two tablespoons each of the coffee and honey in a small container.

The honey is a great source of antioxidants and super moisturizing, so is great for anti-aging.

The coffee offers a chemical and a physical exfoliation, helping to slough away full skin and reduce fine lines.

Before

During

After

While there may have been some benefits, removing this seemed very harsh. I don’t think I have sensitive skin, but it seemed very rough. I don’t think I’ll be repeating this mask.

What have you guys been doing for your skin lately?

Face of the Day Friday — October 19, 2018

Face of the Day Friday

Hey guys! I really wanted to play with color this week. This is how I got the look:

I started as usual by waking up my under eye area with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. I also ran some Smack Beauty Bat Those Lashes Volumizing Lash Serum along my upper lash line. I also prepped my face with some NYX Professional Makeup #NoFilter Blurring Primer. For my lips today, I used some Lipsmart Powerful Hydration for Dry Lips.

Because my skin wasn’t looking too bad today, I just used a little Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Beauty Balm and blended it in with a dampened Beauty Blender.

For a little definition, I used a NYX Professional Makeup Wonder Stick Highlight and Contour Stick in Medium/Tan and blended it with a dampened Beauty Blender.

Next I used my Frankie Rose Cosmetics Pro Contour Palette. I used a Morphe E41 Brush and the Mellow Yellow and Dollface colors to set the highlighted areas. For the contoured areas, I used both a Morphe Y22 Brush and a Morphe M501 Brush and the Heated and Tempting colors.

For some cheek color, I swept on some Frankie Rose Cosmetics Blush in Peachy Pink with a Morphe M500 Brush.

Using my fingers, I patted some Inika Light Reflect Highlighting Creme onto my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. Right on top of that, I again used my fingers to add some Unicorn Snot Glitter Gel for Face and Body in Silver.

To fill in and shape my brows, I used a Morphe E58 Brush and some NYX Professional Makeup Eyebrow Cake Powder in Dark Brown.

As a transition shade, I used a Morphe M330 Brush to sweep on some NYX Professional Makeup Nude Matte Shadow in Craving.

I then used an e.l.f. Cosmetics Professional Eyeshadow Brush to pack on some NYX Professional Makeup Primal Colors in Hot Fuchsia on to my eyelids. I also ran some along my lower lash line.

I added a wing with some e.l.f. Cosmetics Liquid Liner in Sea Foam. I also wanted a little glitter, so I used a Japonesque Brow Brush dampened with some Mehron Mixing Liquid to apply some NYX Professional Makeup Face and Body Glitter in Crystal along my lower lash line.

For a little more pop, I added some Cynthia Rowley Eyeliner in Sky Blue to my waterline. I also added a couple coats of Velvet 59 My Fair Lashes Mascara.

For my lips today, I used some Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub.

I finished off the look with some Ardell Wispies, applied with Duo Eyelash Adhesive.

And that’s all! See you soon!

Overall, it’s a pretty good palette. Some of the colors are a little lacking in the pigmentation department. But they are buildable, so it’s not horrible.

Skincare Sunday: Honey and Lemon — October 14, 2018

Skincare Sunday: Honey and Lemon

Hey guys! This week I decided to try a honey and lemon DIY face mask.

First gather your materials:

  • A warm wet rag
  • A TBSP measuring spoon
  • Something to stir with (I used a silicone mask brush)
  • A knife
  • A lemon
  • A small bowl
  • Raw honey

Cut the lemon in half. I usually roll it on a hard surface first, as I find it’s easier to squeeze. Squeeze of one tablespoon of juice into small container.

Add two tablespoons of honey and mix well.

Before the mask

At this point I thought it would be thicker, and had planned on applying it with my silicone mask brush, but I ended up applying it with a cotton ball.

After applying

Then wait for thirty minutes.

While it’s dried

Remove with a warm damp cloth.

All done!

So let’s talk about the ingredients.

The vitamin C in the lemon juice can help with brightening. It contains alpha hydroxy acids which help exfoliate away dead skin cells.

Honey is naturally antibacterial. So it works well for acne prone skin. It’s also full of antioxidants which help fight free radicals, and also help with the aging process. Honey is also a great moisturizer and skin soothed. It’s also a great ingredient to use before an extraction, since it helps open up the pores.

Overall, I really enjoyed this mask, and will probably use it again in the future.

What DIY masks have you used and loved? Let me know so I can try them! See you soon!
