Skincare Sunday: Dermaplaning — April 29, 2018

Skincare Sunday: Dermaplaning

Hey guys! Since last week we talked about micro rolling, this week I thought I’d share another technique I’ve been trying it that most people would find weird.

This is my Stacked Skincare Dermaplaning Tool.

Yes, I know. It looks a little scary. But it’s awesome!

This tool details for $75, which I know might seem like a lot. But it’s an investment. The tool itself will last as long as it holds up, you’ll only need to replace the blades.

This tool help brighten, soften and smooth your skin. It removes both peach fuzz and dead skin.

This is made to give similar result as a dermaplaning session at your dermatologist, but is safe enough to use at home.

Because you’re removing a build up of dead skin, and products you use after will be able to work that much better. It’s also said to help with fine lines and large pores.

Blades should be replaced monthly. You can buy a three pack of replacement blades for about $25, so it’s not a huge financial burden. In total, your looking at $75 upfront, and $100 for the next years worth of blades.

Now. How to use it?

You will want to hold the skin taut. You’ll also want to be in the mirror for this, so you don’t use it anywhere you wouldn’t want to.

Use short strokes, and run across cheeks, chin, forehead, above lip, and along jaw line. Avoid eyelids, eyebrows, hairline, nose and lips. Repeat once a week.

Do not used on inflamed skin, or active acne. At that point, you’re just asking for trouble.

You can also sanitize the tool in 70% alcohol.

And the last step is to see your skin improve!

I’ll see you guys soon!

Face of the Day Friday — April 25, 2018

Face of the Day Friday

Hey guys! Just a slightly different version of a simple look for you today!

I started by waking up my eyes with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + egcg. I also prepped and hydrated my lips with some Pure Paw Paw Ointment in Grape. Since I’ve been loving my lashes looking so luscious, I ran some Grande Lash-MD Lash Enhancing Serum along my upper lash line. I also used a disposable spoolie to apply some Jamaican Black Castor Oil and Vitamin E Oil to my lashes.

I prepped my skin with The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer. I then sprayed some Sephora Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation in Light over my face and blended that in with a dampened Beauty Blender. For a nice smooth cream contour, I used some LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Toast and once again used a Beauty Blender to blend. To brighten and conceal under my eyes I mixed some LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Light Ivory with a bit of Palladio Under Eyes Disguise Full Coverage Concealer in Lemonade. I then used a Beauty Blender Under my arm thought it was going to fall off.

To fake a healthy flush, I very sparingly applied some Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Creme Colour Concentrate in Grandma to my cheeks and worked that in with my fingers, sine the warm makes it easier the blend.

For a little glow, I applied some Sephora Radiant Luminizing Drops in Starlight to my cheek bones and down the bridge of my nose. I also just went ahead and used my fingers for that, because, hey, why not?

To set all that cream, I grabbed my Japonesque Go To Brush and swished on some RCMA No Color Powder. I also used a Morphe G18 Brush and a Japonesque Kumadori Blending Brush to add some color back in and slightly contour using some Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation. I blended the crap out of that with a Morphe G5 Brush.

I threw some Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Buff onto the areas I highlighted earlier and let that for a couple minutes. I brushed off the excess with a fluffy Morphe E41 Brush.

To deepen up the flushed cheeks look a bit, I used a Sigma F15 Brush to sweep some NYX Professional Makeup Powder Blush in Pinched slog my cheeks. Then I again blended with a Real Techniques Multi Task Brush.

That glow! I grabbed a Morphe M501 Brush and doused myself in some Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Gold Digger.

To fill in and shape my brows I used an Anastasia Duo Brush 7 and some of both Inglot AMC Brow Liner Gel in 16 and 20. I used a Morphe M508 Brush and some Dermablend Cover Creme in Natural Beige to clean up the edges. I sealed all that work in with Model in a Bottle Long Lasting Eyebrow Sealer and brushed through that with a Morphe M115.

Now for the eyes. I used a Sigma E40 Brush to add some NYX Professional Makeup Nude Matte Shadow in Covet as a transition shade. To deepen and define the crease just a tad, I grabbed a Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush and swept on some NYX Professional Makeup Nude Matte Shadow in Bare My Soul. For the lid and the brow bone, I used a Morphe E14 Brush to pack on some Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow in Brûlée.

Now. This is where things get a little different. I used a Morphe E38 Brush to apply a winged liner using LA Splash Lip Couture Waterproof Lipstick in Vindictive. I know it seems weird, but this will last all day. Plus I love this grey as a liner.

I do used my face in Model in a Bottle Makeup Setting Spray. I applied some Grande Mascara Lash Boosting Formula Mascara because it’s crazy amazing. I throw on some Frankie Rose Liquid Lipstick in Rose All Day.

I finished it all off with some Ardell Wispies applied using good old trusty Duo Eyelash Adhesive.

And that’s all for today! I’ll see you soon!

Mani Monday — April 23, 2018

Mani Monday

Happy Mani Monday! I created the super simple, but bright and fun look for you this week.

I started by applying a coat of OPI Start to Finish Base Coat, Top Coat & Strengthener.

I then applied two coats of Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel in Peri-wink-le of an Eye.

After letting that dry completely, I created a sort of ombré from the tip to the nail bed using OPI Nail Lacquer in On Pinks & Needles.

When that was dry (which took forever), I topped it off with another coat of OPI Start to Finish Base Coat, Top Coat & Strengthener.

I’ll see you soon!

Skincare Sunday: Stacked Skincare Micro-Roller — April 22, 2018

Skincare Sunday: Stacked Skincare Micro-Roller

Micro-rolling. I know. It’s scary thinking about rolling needles all over your face. But I promise you, even the wimpiest of people can do it. One of my sisters, Megan has the lowest pain tolerance. Trust me. I’ve gotten tattoos and piercings with this girl. She’s kind of a wimp. But even she said micro-rolling wasn’t bad.

Anyway, the one I use is Stacked Skincare Collagen Boosting Micro-Roller.

It comes with its own handy little case, which we will get into later.

This retails for $30. You will need to replace it monthly, so you’re looking at a $360 a year investment. I have to say, it’s worth it. I’ve seen an improvement in my skin, and had other people comment on it, and to me, that’s priceless.

The needles on this are stainless steel. They are .2mm in length. What you’d get at the dermatologist’s office is much longer needles usually. This is made to be safe for the everyday person to be able to use safely and easily at home.

Basically, here’s what all the things micro-rolling does for you.

It micro exfoliates. It takes small bits of dead skin off. Who wants to walk around with dead skin on their face? It’s not flattering. It makes makeup look less flattering, your skin look dryer. Just no.

It’s helps create smoother, plumper, firmer skin. I know, I know. This sounds like one of those infomercial claims. But it’s true. It sort in creates micro injuries into the skin, which forces the skin into repair mode. This means your natural healing response kick in. It also means more collagen production. This helps soften and refine fine lines and wrinkles. It can also help with dark spots.

It also creates sort of tunnels for your products. Whatever you use after, will be able to enter the skin easier. Who doesn’t want improved efficacy from their skin care products?

So let’s jump in on how to properly use it.

Prep your skin with a hydrating serum. I love to use The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid. You’ll want to choose serums that have active, but not irritating ingredients. The would include peptides, growth factors, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. You’ll want to avoid things like vitamin c and retinol. If your skin isn’t too sensitive, you can apply things like this after rolling.

You start by running the micro-roller vertically along your cheek, forehead, other cheek, and lips and chin. You’ll be able to feel the right pressure for you. You’ll want to avoid your eyelids and nose. Then you’ll repeat the areas horizontally and diagonally.

The directions are to use the micro-roller 3-5 times per week. I do use mine more than that, and I’ve seen great results, but I’d start with 3 times a week and work your way up. You’ll also want to follow the rest of your skin routine. I like to apply a serum (I rotate between a few), and then my moisturizer.

After using the micro-roller, you’ll need to clean it. You can do this by soaking it in 91% alcohol or boiled water for 5 minutes. Then allow it to dry completely, and return it to its case to keep it sanitary.

There’s also some important things you should know. Do not roll over any inflamed skin, irritated skin, active acne, or eczema.

Some good advice is to avoid sunscreen, tanning lotion and makeup for 24 hours after. I almost never have time to avoid makeup for 24 hours after, and haven’t had any issues however.

And that’s it! So give it a try.

Face of the Day Friday — April 20, 2018

Face of the Day Friday

Hey everyone! This I’ve brought you a super simple look. Really it’s just because I’ve been wanting to rock this highlighter, and I wanted that to be the main focus today.

I woke my under eye area up with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + ECGC. This stuff works wonders! I ran some Grande Lash-MD Lash Enhancing Serum along my lash line. I applied some Pure Par Paw Ointment in Strawberry to hydrate my lips while I work on my face. I also used a disposable spoolie to put some of my homemade lash serum (really just some Jamaican Black Castor Oil and some Vitamin E Oil).

I primed and protected my skin with The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer. To even out my skin tone a bit, I dotted on some Inglot YSM Cream Foundationin 43, and used a dampened Beauty Blender to blend like my life depended on it.

For a nice cream contour, I applied some LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Toast to the usual areas and used another dampened Beauty Blender to soften the look.

To highlight and hide my mask of sleep even more (caffeine can only do so much!), I used some Palladio Under Eyes Disguise Full Coverage Concealer in Vanilla Latte and Lemonade. Then guess what! That’s right. I used another dampened Beauty Blender. You get the picture.

I set all that hard work with my Japonesque Go To Brush and some RCMA No Color Powder.

To define and set that cream contour, I grabbed my Japonesque Kumadori Blending Brush and my usual Palladio Matte Bronzer in No Tan Lines. I gave that a gentle blend with a Morphe G5.

I set and baked the highlighted areas with some Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Buff. After letting that rest a few minutes, I used a Morphe M500 Brush to dust away the excess powder.

To fake a little bit of a healthy blush, I swept some Jouer Powder Blush in Rose on using a Sigma F15. I blended that like crazy with a Real Techniques Multi Task Brush.

Now on to the eyes. For my brows, I used my trusty Anastasia Beverly Hills Duo Brush 7 and some Inglot AMC Brow Liner Gel in 16 and 20. The lighter color (16) to map of the shape and define, and the darker color (20) to build up the sparser areas.

To clean up the edges a bit (I’m not all about crispy edges so much anymore), I used a Morphe M508 Brush and some Dermablend Cover Creme in Natural Beige. That choice is really because I’m not wearing heavier foundations anymore, and the works wonders like this because it’s so pigmented.

To set my brows, I ran some Model in a Bottle Long Lasting Eyebrow Sealer along them, and then ran a Morphe M115 through.

I also took this time to cross my fingers and douse my face in some Model in a Bottle Makeup Setting Spray, hoping nothing will move all day.

I kept the eye makeup more simple today. I used some Frankie Rose Cosmetics Blush in Romantica, with a Morphe E17 in the crease and a Morphe E14 to pat it on the lid.

I threw on a pretty bold wing with an LA Splash Art-Ki-Tekt Waterproof Slim Eyeliner (best felt tip liner everrrr!).

For lips, I used LA Splash Waterproof Liquid Lipstick in Latte Confession.

And now… the glow! Today I really wanted to work with Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Mermaid Fantasy. I used a Sigma E30 near my tear ducts, a Morphe M501 along my cheekbones, and old schooled it with my finger tip down the bridge of my nose and on my Cupid’s bow.

I prepped my lashes for falsies with some Grande Mascara Lash Boosting Formula, and three on some Ardell Wispies with the usual Duo Eyelash Adhesive.

And that’s all for today! I hope you guys like this look!

Wine Wednesday: NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Multi Finish Shadow Palette in Sugar High — April 18, 2018

Wine Wednesday: NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Multi Finish Shadow Palette in Sugar High

Hey, everyone! Today I’ll be finishing off my bottle of Kaiken Reserva Malbec during our visit.

I grabbed this Palette recently when it was on sale, so I figured I’d swatch it for you. It’s marketed as a multi finish palette, because it contains mattes, shimmers and metallics. It’s 12 shadows, 3 finishes each of 4 tones.

You can see here what I mean.

This is the far left section, a nice cream shade, in each finish.

This is the next column, some nice nude colors in each finish.

And now we move on to color. I guess you’d call it almost apricot, again in each finish.

And the last column. In real life, this looks more plum. Again in all finishes.

And that’s all guys! See you soon!

Face of the Day Friday

Hey guys! Here’s what I created for you today!

I started by waking up my under eye area with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + ECGC. Then, because I’ve been working on growing my lashes, I put in some Grande Lash-MD Lash Enhancing Serum. I also used a spoiler to apply some Jamaican Black Castor Oil and Vitamin E Oil to my lashes. At last, I threw some Pure Paw Paw Ointment in Strawberry on my lips to hydrate them while I apply my makeup. I also prepped my skin for makeup with some NYX Professional Makeup Angel Veil Primer.

I sprayed Sephora Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation in Light on my face and blended it in with a Violet Voss “The Perfect Weapon” Silione Gel Applicator. I cream contoured using LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Toast and used that same applicator to blend. I concealed and highlighted under my eyes using LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Light Ivory and Palladio Under Eyes Disguise Full Coverage Concealer in Lemonade and once again used that applicator to blend.

I grabbed my Japonesque Kumadori Blending Brush and contoured with Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation in Deep Mocha. I set the highlighted areas with Frankie Rose Powder Foundation in Buff and a Morphe E41 Brush. I also added some color to my cheeks with a Sigma f15 and some Palladio Matte Blush in Chic. I blended that out with a Real Techniques Multi Task Brush.

I filled in and shaped my brows with Wunderbrow Brow Gel in Black/Brown. I used a Morphe M508 and some Palladio Under Eyes Disguise Full Coverage Concealer in Vanilla Latte. To create some depth and fill in more sparse areas, I grabbed a Morphe M413 Brush and swept on some NYX Professional Makeup Eyebrow Powder in Dark Brown. I set all that hard work with Model in a Bottle Long Lasting Eyebrow Sealer.

Now for the eyes! I used a Sigma E40 Brush to sweep some NYX Professional Makeup Nude Matte Shadow in Leather & Lace on as a transition shade. I deepened up the crease a wee bit with a Morphe E17 Brush and some NYX Professional Makeup Nude Matte Shadow I’m Get Naked. To brighten up the eyelid, I used a Morphe E14 Brush to pack in some Wet n Wild Color Icon Eye Shadow in Creme Brûlée. For liner, today I used a Sigma E65 Brush to apply some Frankie Rose Cosmetics Limitless Waterproof Gel Liner in Naughty.

I said a prayer and doused my face in Model in a Bottle Makeup Setting Spray, so hopefully this hard work lasts, especially since the weather is beautifully warmer today.

For a glow, I used a Morphe M501 Brush to sweep some LA Girl Strobelite Strobing Powder in 110 Watt along my cheekbones, and down the bridge of my nose.

Again, because I’ve been working on growing my lashes, I applied some Grande Mascara Lash Boosting Formula to my lashes.

I decided to skip falsies today, since my lashes are looking pretty luscious, and finished off the look with Frankie Rose Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Rose All Day.

I’ll see you soon!
